Stone masonry retaining walls and drainage systems along 3.4km of steep, landslide-prone chipseal road.
BASE Group partnered with Higher Supply and Installation Trading Limited to construct stone masonry retaining walls and drainage systems along the 3.4km Shusho–Kariba chipseal road in Rutsiro District. The works were executed on challenging, steep, mountainous terrain, requiring careful slope stabilisation to protect the roadway from erosion and landslides.
Locally sourced stone masonry was used to provide durable, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable retaining structures, while integrated drainage systems ensured effective management of surface runoff — improving road safety, stability, and long-term resilience for the region.
